Two of Maine's best kept secrets: The Quarry Tavern in Tenants Harbor and Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope!

Yesterday was a great spring day in Maine.  So, my wife and I decided to do a little exploring on the coast.  The Quarry Tavern in Tenants Harbor has been on our bucket list for awhile.  Plus, we learned that Meghan Clark, Maine's hottest performer was also going to be there.  How could we lose?

After exploring Spruce Head and Port Clyde, we arrived at the Quarry Tavern a little before six.  Such a delightful atmosphere.  It is settled on the old quarry site next to the wharves where sailing ships loaded the prized granite from the quarry.

We ordered the haddock salad which was out of this world!  And they even have a local IPA that is now my favorite!  Take a back seat Goose Island.

Meghan Clark arrived shortly before the dinner hour which began at six o'clock.  The place started to fill while she held back her "dynamic pipes" to shmooze the quiet dinner crowd.  She tantalized her audience with quiet and gentle renditions of everything from pop to country to oldies.

As soon as the dinner patrons began to leave and the entertainment group filtered in the atmosphere became almost electric!  Meghan at her best, blew the roof off the tavern with a mixture of original songs, contemporary covers, mash ups, oldies, and country to a crowd that absolutely loved her!  The tavern closes at eight-thirty.  At nine o'clock the crowd was still yelling "Encore"!

She finished her night with the most beautiful rendition of "Tennessee Whiskey" that I and everyone there had ever heard!

As great a place as the Quarry Tavern is and as popular as Meghan Clark is in Maine, her venues are not immune to the hordes of blood thirsty black flies and mosquitoes in season.  However, most Mainers and knowledgeable visitors have a bottle of Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope with them.  Developed in Maine in 1882 as a repellent for all biting insects, Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope has been protecting people without fail for over 130 years!  The unique formula of Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope actually interferes with an insects receptors that detect the carbon dioxide flume that we exhale when we breathe.  If they cannot find you, they cannot bite you!

Enjoy the Quarry Tavern and Meghan Clark. Welcome to Maine
