When is Authentic not Authentic or When is a Peach not a Peach? Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope

When is Authentic not Authentic or When is a Peach not a Peach? Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope

We have a peach tree here on our Maine farmstead where we batch up Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope from its original 1882 formula.  Every August this tree offers up the juiciest, sweetest, most colorful, and tastiest peaches in abundance.  Most of our small population here in Brooks keeps a sharp eye on the perfect timing when it is time to pick.  Why?  Just go into your local grocer and buy a "peach" that has been altered over time to be picked green, sustain long shipments, and to ripen in route while still looking like a peach.  But tasting like?

The same principles apply to Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope.  Time has changed every ingredient in the formula that has protected those who love the outdoors for over 130 years from mosquitoes, black flies, noseeums, deer flies and ticks .  The modern processes are much different than they were 100 years ago.  That is why we always purchase our ingredients from "old fashioned" manufacturers or we make it ourselves.

When you put on a few drops of Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope on the bill of your cap, bandana, or shoe laces, you can be assured that it is the authentic Fly Dope that Obie Sherer sold to the first Maine Woods Camp in 1910.

Our only compromise is the plastic bottle.  It is much safer to carry into the woods than glass!

Just took this camping this weekend, put some on a bandana just like when I was a kid. Not a bite! Thank you!
